- Unless otherwise noted, cars are allowed to turn “right on red” so pedestrians crossing streets need to look for turning vehicles
- Pedestrians must cross at designated cross-walks
- Bicycles are considered vehicles. They have a right to share the road in South Carolina and must obey all traffic rules. Helmets are highly recommended but not mandatory
- Parking is restricted in downtown areas and at the beaches, so follow posted parking guidelines to avoid being ticketed or towed
- All personal vehicles must be registered with the SC Department of Motor Vehicles and insured, and all drivers must be licensed
- Seatbelts are required. Texting while driving is illegal
