A Bright Future

The region boasts a number of excellent private and parochial schools for families and students who seek an alternative to public schools. For example, Pinewood Prep, 107-year old Ashley Hall, and Porter-Gaud, which dates to Porter Military Academy’s founding in 1867, have longstanding traditions of excellence. Private schools do not have to follow state-mandated curriculum standards and can establish their own faculty hiring/firing requirements. They can also have selective admission criteria for their students.
